I'm Lulu — maker, lifelong animal person, and the hands behind every piece at LULU HANDMADE.
A few years ago I went looking for a way to hold onto my cat that felt like her — not a flat print, not a stiff photo, but something warm I could actually hold. I came up short. So I picked up a needle and a handful of wool and tried to make it myself. And just like that, LULU HANDMADE was born.
The moment it clicked
OK — not just like that. My cat refused to sit still for a single decent photo, and my first attempts were clumsy. But when I finally finished that little wool version of her, friends didn't say “wow, it's accurate.” They said “that's so her.”
That was it. The tilt of the head, the soft cheeks, the 6am breakfast stare — I hadn't copied a photo, I'd captured her. I've been chasing that feeling ever since.
Why we reimagine instead of copy
We work in a style we call Stylized Realism — somewhere between lifelike and chibi.
A photograph freezes a fraction of a second. But your pet is rounder, fluffier, and more alive than any single frame. So instead of chasing pixel-perfect accuracy, we sculpt the feeling — the personality, the signature markings, the little quirks that make them unmistakably them.
The result isn't a replica. It's a character — a soft sculpture you'll want to hold.
Made by hand, one at a time
Every piece is needle-felted entirely by hand from 100% natural merino wool — no molds, no machines, no shortcuts. A single charm takes 30 to 50 hours of quiet, patient work.
Because each one is shaped by hand, no two are ever exactly alike. Your piece is, quite literally, one of one — made only for you, and for the pet you love.
